Oranienbaum
Oranienbaum also known under the name of Lomonosov was built by Prince Alexander Menshikov, one of Peter the Great’s best friends, to rival Peterhof. Catherine the Great made it one of her holiday spots and built a small Chinese palace with baroque outside and rococo within. It displays the Glass-Beaded Salon, unique in Europe, featuring exotic scenes of birds, cornucopias, and flowers made up of over two million shimmering horizontal glass beads. Oranienbaum is the only place in the outskirts of the city that hadn't been destroyed by the Nazis.
The tour will last for around 5 hours
